Conversion of outbuildings to extend a 19th century farmhouse

We successfully obtained planning permission to restore and extend a derelict 19th century farmhouse near Harrogate. 

This project included the complete restoration and extension of a delapidated stable and storage block next to the farmhouse. We obtained permission for a design which met the clients’ aspirations, satisfied the planning authority’s requirements and preserved the original stone frontage. All the alterations including feature window to the rear were designed to retain the building’s character.

"We wanted our renovated property to retain the look and feel of what it actually was, a small moorland farmhouse and barn. 

Andy and Chau came up with a design that was both sympathetic to the original layout of the building, but which incorporated many new features and construction techniques, utlising the latest heating and insulation methods. 

Liasing closely with the planning authority, Andy and Chau’s plans made use of many of the existing details, but also successfully argued for the incorporation of several new windows and structural modifications. These were constructed using traditional methods, enabling them to blend seamlessly into the property as a whole. We are delighted with how the project is progressing."
